LOST – Links and clues…

I wrote this in 2007 in an attempt to gather my thoughts on the TV show LOST. Some of the links no longer work and we all know most of the answers now anyway…

This page is my attempt to gather up all the links and information I can find on the TV series LOST. It’s far from complete, but as I have time I’ll continue to add to it…

Clay’s current theories on the Lost story:

  • The passengers of flight 815 may have been chosen specifically for a purpose
  • The Dharma Initiative backed by Alvar Hanso splintered at some point in the 1985 “incident” (see blast door map, archive, original TV image)which may be the same incident as the purge mentioned in the series.
    • The blast door map mentions the incident with AH/MDG noted indicating the 2 groups involved. AH is an obvious reference to Alvar Hanso, while MDG is a little more difficult. Based on parts of the Lost Experience ARG, I would surmise that the M is for Hans Mittlewerk, but DG???
  • Widmore Corporation (Charles Widmore’s company; farther of Penny Widmore, Desmond Hume’s girlfriend) and Paik Heavy Industries (Sun is the daughter of Mr. Paik, Jin also worked for Paik) are working together to find the Island.
    • According to the Find815 ARG, Paik Heavy Industries built a specially modified container ship to conceal a hospital within. (a large portion of the inner space was marked Quarantine as well..)
      • The ship certainly seems to have been meant to play a role in the biological experiment Mittelwerk planned to execute on an unsuspecting population
      • The experiment may have been the source of the bodies found on the fake 815 found on the ocean floor. (or maybe not… depends on who’s working for who…)
  • If the “others” are truly the “good guys,” I would suspect their backing to be coming from Alvar Hanso, with Mittelwerk and company working against them with the support of Widmore/Paik. (otherwise, I would switch that around…)
  • Oceanic Airlines is tied to Widmore/Paik.
    • They certainly helped to cover up the crash/disappearance of flight 815 with the fake crash site on the ocean floor. (the scene where Frank Lapidas is watching TV and calls the Oceanic hotline, and his later participation in the search for the island; ie: he calls to report inaccuracies in the report and ends up being recruited)
  • hmm, more to come…

Mike Hanttula’s Lost Notebook (2008 archive)has a wealth of information. It’s probably one of the most detailed fansites I’ve come across.. (too bad it looks like he’s planning to sell it)

http://www.thehansofoundation.org/ (2008 archive, requires flash) one of several sites introdued in mock advertisements in the first 2 seasons.

The Oceanic Airlines (2005 archive) site, one of few remaining official LOST tie-in sites has an interesting image at the top of this page (2005 archive) with the words “Taking you places you’ve never imagined!” that has an island scene with a smoke plume rising into the air.

Wikipedia has a fairly good collection of background information on the fictional Hanso Foundation and the DHARMA Initiative as well as detailed and up-to-date character and plot information.

The LostPedia, another very detailed fansite, though some of the information is from unofficial sources. Still loads of good information..

Character blog of Penny Widmore (2013 archive), desmond’s girlfriend/fiance. If official, these entries tie in a number of pieces of the LOST series and the Lost Experience game. Interesting…

Jan 31, 2008: flyoceanicair.com, another tie-in site…

Season 4 ARG (2008 archive) (alternate reality game), an interactive site with a LOST subplot about an IT guy with Oceanic Air. The site started in Dec. 2007 and ran with one chapter a week until the first episode of the 4th season. There are a number of clues and puzzles to solve that provide bits and pieces of information related to the main LOST plot. Check it out now while the site is still available…

The Maxwell Group, a subsidiary of the fictional Widmore Corporation. This “syndicate of interests” is behind the fake flight 815 that was found at the bottom of the ocean and it’s subsequent discovery by the Christiane I in the Find 815 ARG.

Lost Wiki @ wetpaint.com, another fansite with a lot of good information on the LOST TV series…
